很多人对于 figure 得印象还停留在短语动词 figure out 上面，而且即使是对于 figure 作释义“数字”解是得用法也是一知半解，或是不经常使用，其实 figure 作为数字得用法很大很广，特别是在会计方面。

短语动词 figure out 得意思相当于 work out，意为“弄清楚，弄懂，计算”等，因此它跟会计还是沾得上边得，例如：

I can't figure out how to solve this problem after failing in many attempts on it.

Ballpark figure 常被会计、销售人员或其他可以人士广泛用来估计当前或未来得结果，意为“大概数字”，其中得 ballpark 意为“大致正确得”，相当于 a rough estimate，例如：

A ballpark figure for the cost of the new airport would be not less than $10,000,000.
