With a damaged disc, you should

4.If it is a diamond disc, segmented or with a continuous rim, bend the segments or the rim with pliers to make it totally unusable

5.Throw it in the garbage

A damaged disc might break while you are cutting-off or grinding. Therefore, before using an abrasives disc, you should always inspect it carefully for damages (worn out, cracks…). If the abrasives disc is damaged, you must not use it. You should also make sure that no one will use it either. In the case of an abrasives disc, you must break it in different pieces. If it is a diamond disc, segmented or with a continuous rim, you must bend the segments or the rim with pliers. You should then throw it in the garbage.

When using an angle grinder, should I use a different guard when cutting-off than the one used for grinding

Yes, FEPA recommends that a guard, covering both sides of the wheel, is used for cutting-off, when using an angle grinder. When grinding, however, use an open guard. See drawings below for details.

Warning Never use a machine without a guard, as you would not be protected from debris, especially if the wheel breaks, you would be severely injured.
